WAKE THE TOWN, TELL THE PEOPLE!
Op zaterdag 12 november vindt de eerste Moonstomp in Staddijk plaats! En wat voor 1, onze lokale reggae-helden trakteren ons meteen op onvervalste, beat the winter-beats. Mud City Trash Daddies bijten de spits af. De pappies van het Hof van Wezel in Beuningen zijn nieuw en vol enthousiasme. Bezig met hun eerste promotie-cd zullen ze alles geven met hun crossover-reggae. Als hoofd-act, Squadra Batavia, een zijproject van AdLib, met ex-leden van New Sound Sistim en Roughsteppaz. Wie deze bands een beetje kende, weet dat dit swingen en stuiteren tot psychedelische hoogtes betekent. Voor, tijdens en na de bands the next generation rude boys van Boomshakalak Soundsystem. De deejays die binnen no time op de belangrijkste festivals stonden (Oerol,Solar,Paaspop, Mystery Land bijv.) nemen je mee op reis van jaren 50 calypso, naar ska en reggae tot aan dikke dubstep. Als host en toaster hebben we de eer om Butoyi House of Dread te verwelkomen. Deze charismatische rasta heeft zijn roots in Burundi, België en Bergeijk en kan niet alleen prachtig sing-jayen en toasten maar weet ook alles van de Rastafari-beweging. Met andere woorden, een lekker gevarieerd programma dus support your local reggae.

De enthousiaste stichting Veghel In Progress (VIP) vond dat het weer de beurt is aan reggae, ska, dub en hip hop. VIP wil duidelijk nieuwe bands een kans geven. Daarom zal bijvoorbeeld Kontjesman eindelijk weer de landsgrenzen van Vlaanderen doorkruisen om reggae eens in het onvervalst Antwerps ten gehore te brengen. Verder de onwijs, megahippe, next generation rude boys van Boomshakalak Soundsystem die de avond daarvoor ook volop knallen op Mysteryland. De wederopstandelingen van Inamix zijn weer helemaal alive and kicking. Laatst 200 bands verslagen en daarmee een optreden gewonnen op het niet te onderschatten Gideonfestival. Da real hot bubblin’ danchehall roots reggae! Als afsluiter de AdLib All Stars Confusion, muzikanten die al jaren menig underground feestje in Nijmegen en omstreken helemaal loos wisten te krijgen met hun speciale toegankelijke reggae.

Voor velen een onbekende muziekstijl maar misschien ook wel niet want waarschijnlijk hoor je de originals of juist die hele lekkere vage obscure versies van platen die je bijna vergeten was. Wat is Northern Soul eigenlijk? Een way of life die vooral in het noorden van Engeland veel aanhang had in de jaren ’60. Denk aan Lambretta’s, Vespa’s, the Who, parka’s en bijvoorbeeld http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbEuq54FcBg. Miss Twist uit Utrecht is op dit gebied de grootste kenner en draaide al op heel veel feesten. Verdere muziekstijlen die voor je aan bod komen zijn, popcorn en 50′s en 60′s Rhythm & Blues. Dusss poets op die Vespa en vroem naar La Luna.

On coming Moonstomp you can enjoy the original roots vinyl of the one and only IRIE MAN aka Reggae Richard. The night mayor of Nijmegen is a real ambassador of reggae and THE connection between Jamaica and “Kingston aan de Waal” In ’73 he went for 3 weeks to the most musical island but stayed for 3 months! There he met for example Yellow Man and Eek a Mouse. This rendez-vous resulted in a long life friendship and even more amazing; Ripton Hylton (Eek a Mouse) came over, stayed over at Richard’s residence and did a performance in Loonies (which later became La Luna) just because of this friendship. So come over and enjoy this walking vibe of love, marihuana and reggae.

Classic movies will be shown as well.
